We are always talking about fashion in terms of the clothes that we wear and our hair styles and make-up but there is another type of fashion as well which is the style and trend that we apply to our homes.

Over the years we have gone through very many changes and like everything related to fashion changes are brought about so that we spend more. If there were no fashion trends, we would all carry on wearing the same type of clothes as we had been wearing for years and our homes would always look the same. But the firms out there want us to renew and to buy and so they change the fashion as often as they can in order for us to fall into the trap and spend more of our money.

You are quite comfortable in your home. You thought that you had achieved the look that you were striving for and it has taken you quite a few years to get there and then suddenly you get invited over to the home of a rich friend of yours to find that she has decorated it with all the latest gadgets, materials and trends available and it leaves you feeling as if your home is no longer as marvellous as you thought it was. And what has happened to you, happens to a thousand more people who feel disillusioned and decide to go out and buy in order to renovate their home and bring it more up to date and in line with the house of their friend. And this is how the furniture and decoration firms make their money, through the whims of us women!

But having said that, if you have the money, you are free to change your home and make it look more modern, but just remember at the back of your mind that maybe in two or three years time the fashion is going to change yet again and if you have let yourself become a fashion victim you will feel obliged to fork out even more money to change the style of your home for yet another time.
