It has been quite the in thing and very fashionable up until recently to be ultra skinny. As everyone knows and can see, the models on the cat walk all looked as if they had anorexia and were so gaunt and pale that the only thing that looked good were the clothes that they were wearing.
If you spoke to men to try and find out their opinion on these women or rather young girls, their reaction was nearly always the same – they didn’t like it at all, they didn’t look like real women but more like walking bones.
Then recently certain celebrities have come to fame with their voluptuous curves like Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Eva Mendez and quite a few more and when you hear the opinion from men on these women it is now very different, these to them are real women. These stars have also shown us how even with their larger size they can still look good, or rather very good, in the clothes that they wear.
It seems that the question of weight has fluctuated up and down throughout the years with the era of Marilyn Munroe and Jane Russell etc being when curvy women were most in fashion, to the year that Twiggy came onto the scene and introduced the idea of being so thin since which time the models have wanted to get thinner and thinner.
So it is clear that being too thin is no longer fashionable again and while the models on the cat walks continue to be very slim, albeit not so much due to the regulations that have been issued to the model agencies about weight, women out there know that they no longer have to feel ashamed of their curves. What normal women want now is that the designers produce clothes that are more suiting to fuller figures.
